PERSONAL STATEMENT:
I am a passionate bilingual education teacher who aims to inspire, motivate, and empower students to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners who are advocates for social justice, with the purpose of making an impact in a diverse global community in order to thrive and create positive change in our world.
FUN FACTS:
I am a 34 year old Xicana, full-time mother of an energetic 7 year old girl (Mel) and a 18 month old boy (Max), loving wife, social activist, and linguaphile who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students, families, and society.
In 2011, I graduated from Mount St. Mary's College (now Mount St. Mary's University) with a B.A. in Philosophy, and minor in Pre-law. In 2015, I graduated with my M.Ed in Bilingual Education from Loyola Marymount University.
I am currently an Language Arts Specialist at Lawndale Elementary School District. I also support Yak Academy, Redondo Beach as a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist.
When I am not busy creating curriculum or collaborating with other educators, you can find me in the kitchen cooking healthy meals I find on Pinterest, listening to music, at concerts, working out with my family, or simply lounging on my couch enjoying a good cup of joe and a great read.
